Can I Buy Vendor Insurance for One Day?

This page is general information, not advice, and it is not a policy or an offer of coverage. Coverage terms, availability and exclusions vary by carrier, state and individual risk. Read your own policy — it governs.

Yes. Vendor liability can be bought for a single day or a single event, which is normally what a festival organizer is asking for when they want proof of cover for one weekend.

When single-event cover is the right call

If you are not interested in a twelve-month policy and you are only trading for one weekend, a single-event policy does the job at the lowest outlay. It satisfies the organizer, it produces a certificate, and it ends when the event does.

When it stops being a good deal

Annual cover often costs about the same as three single-event policies. So if you are attending more than three events, buying annually is usually cheaper — and it removes the gaps between dates, which single-event policies leave uncovered.

Work out your event count for the year before you buy the first one. That number decides the answer more than anything else.

Buying an annual policy without fixed dates

Vendors buying annually often get stuck on the question asking about events and locations, because they do not yet know. Entering something like "various events and locations" is normal and expected for a vendor working a circuit.

A certificate of insurance is available once the policy is purchased, and it can be reissued for each venue that asks.
