One day · A weekend · A season
One-day and short-term
vendor insurance
An organizer wants a certificate for Saturday. You do not need to buy twelve months to give them one.
Terms that match how you actually trade
Food vending is not evenly spread across the year. A vendor might do eight weekends in summer, one Christmas market, and nothing in February. Buying an annual policy to cover eight days is a real cost for a small operation, which is why short-duration terms exist.
- One day. A single event, market day or festival date.
- Short term. A run of consecutive days, a long weekend, or a defined season.
- Monthly. Rolling cover for vendors who trade regularly but not year-round.
- Annual. The standard twelve-month policy, usually the cheapest per day once you are trading most weeks.
When short-term is the wrong answer
Being honest about this matters more than making the sale: if you trade most weekends through the year, buying a string of one-day policies will almost certainly cost more than an annual policy, and it leaves gaps between dates. Short-term cover is built for genuinely occasional trading, not as a way to avoid an annual premium. If you are not sure which side of the line you fall on, say so on the form and we will look at both.
What the organizer is actually asking for
Almost always, an event organizer, market manager or venue asking for “proof of insurance” wants a certificate of insurance showing general liability, at the limits named in their vendor agreement, with their organization listed as certificate holder — and frequently as additional insured. Read the agreement before you request a quote so the limits match. Getting a certificate that shows the wrong limits means doing it twice.
Certificates of insurance are available after purchase.
